The Top End T20 Series 2025 is the fourth edition of a Twenty20 cricket tournament held in Darwin, Australia.[1] Organized by Northern Territory Cricket, the event features academy teams from Australia's Big Bash League (BBL), regional domestic sides, and international A teams from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
The tournament is part of the broader Cricket 365 initiative, showcasing the Northern Territory as the only region in Australia where cricket is played year-round.
History
In August 2022, the Top End T20 Series was launched. The league was aimed to make up for the absence of high-profile matches in Northern Territory, Australia every year and to expose talented players from districts.[2][3][4][5]
Format
The Top End T20 Series 2025 features 11 teams competing in a partial round-robin format followed by a knockout stage, held from 14 to 24 August 2025 in Darwin, Australia. A total of 36 T20 matches will be played during the tournament. In the league stage, each team plays a selected number of opponents rather than a full round-robin, resulting in 33 group matches. The top-performing teams on the points table will then advance to the knockout stage, which includes two semi-finals and a final.

Significance
The Top End T20 Series provides a platform for emerging cricketers to gain experience in competitive conditions. It also promotes tourism and cultural exchange, with strong participation from South Asian nations and growing support from diaspora communities in Australia.
NT Cricket CEO Gavin Dovey stated: “Nepal has developed a fanatical following in their home country and among the Nepali diaspora, so we are delighted that all Nepalese eyes will be on the Northern Territory as we play a role in their cricketing journey.”
