The 2025 season was the 18th season for the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They were one of the ten teams that competed in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). The team finished in fourth place in the previous season.[5] Ahead of the season, Rajat Patidar was announced as the captain. The team was coached by Andy Flower.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished at the second place in the league stage, advancing to the Qualifier 1. They also became the first IPL team to win all away games in a season.[6] The team defeated Punjab Kings in the Qualifier 1 to qualify for their fourth final. In the final, they defeated Punjab Kings again to win their maiden title after 18 years.
Pre-season
The 2025 Indian Premier League was the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket league held in India, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).[7] The tournament featured ten teams competing in 74 matches from 22 March to 3 June 2025 across 13 venues in India.[8][9] Bengaluru played all their home matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium,[10] except for the last one, which was moved to Ekana Cricket Stadium due to the weather conditions in Bengaluru.[11]
Player retention
Franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of six players from their squad,[12][13] including a maximum of five recent international players.[14] Franchises were required to submit their retention lists before 31 October 2024.[15] Bengaluru retained three players, including captain Rajat Patidar and former captain Virat Kohli.[16]

Auction
The season's auction took place in November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.[19] The auction purse for each franchise was set at ₹120 crore (US$14 million), with franchises deducting an amount from the purse for every retained player.[20] Bengaluru had a purse remaining of ₹83 crore (US$9.8 million).[21] Franchises that did not retain six players, were allowed Right-to-Match cards at the auction for each player not retained.[22] Bengaluru had three cards available.[23]
Bengaluru bought 19 players in the auction, including 12 capped players and eight overseas players. The franchise used its Right-to-Match card to buy back Swapnil Singh.[24]
