Şevval Çakal (born 11 March 2004) is a Turkish taekwondo practitioner who competes in the women's 62 kg division. She won gold medals at the 2025 FISU World University Games and the 2024 European U21 Taekwondo Championships.
Career
Çakal began practicing taekwondo in Istanbul and rose through the national ranks.[1] In 2024, she won the gold medal in the women's 62 kg event at the European U21 Taekwondo Championships held in Tallinn, Estonia.[2] The same year, she secured a bronze medal at the European Taekwondo Clubs Championships in Zagreb.[3]
In 2025, Çakal represented Turkey at the Summer World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. She entered the women's 62 kg competition as a top seed and received a bye in the first round. Çakal then defeated Aisha Adilbekkyzy of Kazakhstan (2–0) in the second round, Mell Karen Mina Ayovi of Ecuador (2–1) in the quarterfinals, Sasikarn Tongchan of Thailand (2–0) in the semifinals, and Petra Stolbova of Czechia (2–0) in the final to win the gold medal.[4]
